Hindou

An intimate portrait, co-produced by Hindou herself, explores the challenges she has faced confronting the largely male-dominated world of international diplomacy to secure not only the $1.7 billion, but more broadly, recognition and respect for Indigenous Peoples worldwide.

For the animated sequences, we developed a hand drawn aesthetic in a bold, black and white style to reflect humanity and perseverance that defines HIndou.

Oh, those are storyboards? We thought that was finished animation.

We Started With Beautiful Colors…

Hey, why not? Color is great, so that’s how Hindou began. We developed a visual language, not unlike a children’s book, with vibrant colors and textures, carefully selected from the desert and villages of Chad.

…Then Found Something We Didn’t Expect.

After several iterations, we realized Hindou’s story was better served with boldness, and by being less careful with each frame. We needed something strong, stark and undoubtedly human, like Hindou herself. Color gave way to stark, rich back and white.
